In art school, it was drilled into me that an image had to have a deeper meaning. The What and The Why if you will. For years I tortured myself by only take pictures that were seemingly layered with meanings, that had an intrinsic connection to the collective unconscious or some social-political relevance. Then one day I heard myself talk and though "What a load of bull."
Now, I simply shoot. The images mean something to me or are a reference to something in my life, and that is what makes me truly happy.
