The trail of the dizzying car ride to get to this spot in Greece (Magic Balcony in Pileon) seems to be emulated in the intricately beautiful patterns of the rocks and trees... or maybe it's the other way round?

Yes, I might be getting carried away with piecing photos together but I've been finding it rather therapeutic lately. And yes, the panes of glass don't match up exactly (which should really get to me due to my OCD...) but I prefer the imperfection. It reminds you that a human put the pieces together...

(And by the by, the light along the Thames is always so piercing! Not sure how or why, but it was on form today!)

Penchant for pelicans

...and coyotes! I recently visited the Natural History Museum to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition and was blown away by the photographs! This image shot by Martin Cooper was my absolute favourite and I ended up taking it home with me (a copy that is...)

An old obsession revisited: panoramas! But the whole left to right or right to left thing bores me, so I went up, up and around instead...

New year, new chances?

OK, a slightly somber way to start the year... but you can look at these photo's in one of two ways: 

A genuine go at making a port a bit more merry, or an empty attempt to lift the city's spirits?

It's merely a shred of paper, but which do you see first? The bright spot or the dark depths?

Is the statue watching over the city defensively, or ignorantly looking into the distance at the fiery sunset?

I'll be making a concerted effort to see more bright spots this year...
